Moisturizers Week 2

Your skin is your body’s largest organ. It protects you, regulates temperature, and serves as your first line of defense. So why put anything toxic on it? Many of us don’t think twice about the ingredients in our skincare products, but as I’ve become more aware, I want to share what truly benefits your skin—products that protect, nourish, and give you that luminous, healthy glow.

We’ve all seen those Dove commercials where the model’s skin looks flawless, smooth, and radiant. That kind of glow isn’t out of reach—it just takes the right approach and the right products. The first step? Know what you’re putting on your skin. Avoid harmful chemicals and toxins that can do more harm than good.

In the next sections, I’ll break down the best products and techniques to help you achieve healthy, glowing skin—without the hidden risks.

In my last post, I highlighted the best body washes to ensure you’re using safe, non-toxic options. If you haven’t checked it out yet, take a look—it’s important to start with a clean foundation.

When it comes to moisturizers, there are plenty of great choices. One of my personal favorites is coconut oil. I keep a big tub in my shower and slather it on while my skin is still damp—it locks in moisture and keeps my skin feeling soft and nourished.

If you prefer a traditional body lotion, here are three I highly recommend:

• Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion – A gentle, fragrance-free option great for sensitive skin.

• Gold Bond Retinol Overnight Moisturizer – Hydrates while smoothing and rejuvenating skin overnight.

• Dove Soothing Bamboo – Lightweight and refreshing with a calming scent.

Finding clean, nourishing products doesn’t have to be complicated. I hope this helps you take another step toward a skincare routine that’s both safe and effective!

Breakfast budget

I hope everybody is having a great Wednesday. It’s been a while since I have shared some information. Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day. It is very easy to eat healthy and on a budget for breakfast. I personally feel breakfast is the easiest meal for my family and I to be healthy and stick to a budget. Here are some of our favorite items to eat for breakfast homemade organic pancakes, yogurt, Cliff bars, omelettes with (vegetables left over for dinner) oatmeal, smoothies, and cereal with milk. My husband and I juice every morning with fruits and vegetables. Ideally use organic items if possible. I almost forgot to mention my favorite part of the morning is my coffee I drink organic coffee from Costco (Mayorga is the brand) which is $12.99 for 2lb bag. They occasionally run a sale and it will drop down to $9.99 for 2 pounds. One of our favorite items in the morning is organic pancakes it is super easy and what I recommend is to double or triple or quadruple this recipe make all the pancakes either on Saturday or Sunday and freeze for the week so you can pull out accordingly. Keep in mind a box of frozen pancakes typically cost $3-$4 they also contain a lot more preservatives and dyes . Here is my recipe I hope you will enjoy it.

Organic pancake
One cup of flour (organic preferred)
2 tablespoons of sugar
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
One large egg (organic Preferred)
One cup of milk ( organic preferred)

Step one
Mixed together all dry ingredients first. Then add the milk and eggs mixed together until moistened do not over mix small lumps are fine.

Step two
Heat a large skillet non stick over medium and I like to fry my batter in a little bit of organic butter, that is optional you can also spray a little bit of olive oil if you want to save calories. For a perfect size pancakes add 2 to 3 tablespoons of batter.

Step three
Cook until surface of pancakes have some bubbles in a few have burst one to two minutes. Flip carefully with the spatula and cook until browned on the otherside 1 to 2 minutes more. Transfer to a baking sheet or platter cover loosely with aluminum foil and keep warm in the oven.

I recommend pure maple syrup. It taste so much better, and is a much healthier choice. It does not contain high fructose corn syrup. This is an ingredient found in a lot of processed food which you want to avoid.

Keep in mind for additional flavor and nutritional value you can add bananas or spinach to your pancakes. I personally love banana pancakes. What is your favorite kind of pancake?

I promise I am going to provide a shopping list with prices to help guide you in the grocery store. I know it can be challenging to eat organic on a budget, however breakfast is a great place to start.

organic mom on a Budget/time crunch

Lets just say over the past five years eating organic has always intrigued me… BUT, of course I had a lot of questions like:

is it really better for me and my family? is it too expensive to afford? Is it inconvenient to search for only organic?

Even with these questions looming, I  committed to ‘go organic.’ And surprisingly i have found  the answers to these questions had fairly easy answers.

It is for this reason (and a few more…) that I have decided to share my stories of success in going organic.  What really inspired me to want to write a blog such as this; Is sharing information, success stories, recipes with friends, family and anyone interested in learning about going organic because I truly believe it will positively affect their health and well-being. I don’t want to be overbearing telling everyone why they need to eat organic especially when they are not asking my opinion. However, I believe having the opportunity to share my experiences has potential.

This journey of going organic is an ongoing and ever changing transition.  I still do not eat ONLY organic… however I have been successful in converted milk, eggs, meat, chicken, fruits and vegetables, most snacks…to organic only,  I feel big changes only happen when people make  little changes like these.

Some readers might be way ahead of me with organic experiences and others might think it is not worthwhile to be more organic.  My goal is to provide readers an opportunity read about, learn about, discuss, share and try practical/affordable ways of eating organically.

Lastly, I have to be honest I am a much better “talker” than writer… but, I am going to do my best.  I am not a doctor. I am not a researcher. I am a working mother of two beautiful children trying to provide the most nutritious diet I can for my family.  Americans in general have a lot of health issues that are FOOD related.. whether it is  allergies, eczema , skin disorders, cancer, thyroid issues, obesity, etc.

I have thought about writing this blog for along time and I believe now is the time to do so.  If I can inspire 1 person or 1 family to convert to eating organic,  then I  have accomplished my mission.

Here are to my goals for this blog. 1. provide the facts/benefits to eating organic. 2. provide shopping list and recipes. 3. ideas for saving time/money 4. list of local farmers.

So let me ask some you how many of you eat organic and why?  And for those that are have you thought about it , and what are your challenges. what is your average grocery bill a month?

I am so excited to star this journey and cant wait to hear your feedback

Sincerely,

Denise
